Support the Bill To Reinstate Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC)

DLI has been working with a coalition of small business trade associations to retain the ERTC through the fourth quarter of this year. The recently enacted Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act disallowed this credit for the fourth quarter of 2021. Congresswoman Miller (R-WV) will lead a bill with support from Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy (D-FL), Congressman Kevin Hern (R-OK), and Congresswoman Terri Sewell (D-AL) called the Employee Retention Tax Credit Reinstatement Act which will restore the final quarter of the ERTC.

The ERTC, along with the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), helped stabilize many DLI members during the COVID-19 Pandemic.  The ERTC was scheduled to expire at the end of 2021, many have continued to take the tax credit into the fourth quarter, and now face a retroactive tax increase and a complex frustrating process in reconciling the credit that they will now have to forfeit. The Employee Retention Tax Credit Reinstatement Act of 2021:  Reinstates the Employee Retention Tax Credit through the end of 2021, as it was originally written.

Dear Representatives:

Thank you for your service to our community.

As a constituent and drycleaning business operator, I urge you to co-sponsor and support the Employee Retention Tax Credit Reinstatement Act.

As passed into law, The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act terminated the ERTC three months early - making wages paid after Sept. 30, 2021, ineligible for the credit.

Drycleaning businesses have been tremendously impacted by COVID-19 and continue to struggle as the nation deals with the continuing threat of variants. Many small businesses have continued to take the tax credit into the fourth quarter and now face a retroactive tax increase and a complex, frustrating process in reconciling the credit that they will now have to forfeit.

The Employee Retention Tax Credit Reinstatement Act of 2021 will allow access through the end of 2021, as originally promised, to help struggling small businesses counting on the ERTC to pay their employees through the end of the year.

The ERTC has been a great benefit and enabled my ability to keep employees on payroll.

We need your support. Please co-sponsor the Employee Retention Tax Credit Reinstatement Act and make the ERTC available through the end of 2021.

Thank you again for your service.
