Fogging

Q: What does "fogging" mean?

A: Some stain removal procedures require fogging for them to work effectively. To fog an area, place the area over a towel, and apply the stain removal agent. Purge the steam gun into the waste bucket to remove residues, then slightly depress the steam pedal to get a thin line of dry steam (you should hear a weak hiss from your gun). This allows you to bring the steam gun closer than the recommended four inches without causing damage. Place the nose of the gun slightly above the fabric surface, and "fog" the area with the dry steam. Fogging is helpful when trying to get out the last traces of dye stains, and when using sodium hydrosulfite and titanium stripper. Care must be exercised, however, when "fogging."
