Production workers, persons responsible for transforming soiled and stained garments into like-new condition, need to know and apply everything covered in this text: fiber content, yarn construction, fabric construction, dyes and pigments, finishes and decorative trims that are applied to fabrics, fabric classification, and labeling requirements. Of added use is a section pertaining to general cleaning and finishing of garments constructed of various classification and fibers. Overcoming the seemingly insatiable urge to reach for stain removal agent or a tamping brush and commence tackling “The Stain Removal Challenge” is one of the earliest, and sometimes most difficult, lesson to learn.
